'Aalap'

 

'Aalap' the musical troupe from the Hindustan College of Arts and Science released their Album 'Swara' which consist of seven tracks in Malayalam and a Rajasthani folk Song.The songs are Sung by Shine and Anand to the tune of Sherwyn and Rinto for Anindhya's Iyrics. The trope was on cloud nine as the 500 copies of their album were sold with in half an hour of its release.
 
 
Dr. KCG Verghese Memorial Inter - Collegiate Tennis Tournament was conducted by KCG College of Technology on 23 March 2006. Abhinav & Keshav of KCG College of Technology won the tennis doubles title.

CULTURALS

 

Students of HCE exhibited their musical talents and theatrical Skills as they appeared on EQ an inter - Collegiate Competition hosted by Vijay T.V. Top to it all, Mr. Prince Alexander, Final year EUE was selected as the Dude of the Show.

Campaign on Anti-terrorism was the theme of a state wide debate hosted IIPM, Chennai on 12 August 2006. A team of six members under the leadership of Mr. Rajkumar, Final year EEE Student represented HCE and the event received wide coverage by leading TV networks like NDTV, CNN-IBN, Headlines Today etc.

 
 
Subrata Bhadury II B.S.C. Computer Science and Priyanka Roy, II B.S.C. Bio Technology, Hindustan College of Arts and Science won the first prize and Second Prizes in the Hindi solo song in Jhaver Sanskriti Sur and Taal-2006, Conducted by the Music Academy on 16 September 2006.

Spring Boots Dance Academy, the brain child of HCE Alumni, Mr.Prabu Dhanesekaran and Mr. Thomas Pradeep staged for the first time SPRING BOOTS 2006 at Music Academy on 7 October, 2006. The event with a noble 140 dancers drew a very good response and the audience were held in awe of the splendid display of agility, grace and burst of youth on the floor. Hindustan College of Engineering was the main sponsor.

 

Dr.KCG Verghese - Memorial Tournaments

 

A Huge contingent of 1500 Swimmers from all over Tamilnadu Participated in the Hindustan College of Engineering Inter professional Institutions and Inter School Swimming Meet (Boys &Girls) at SDAT Aquatic Complex, Velachery, Chennai on 1 & 2 September 2006. Dr.J.P. Sukumar, Director, Physical Education Department, Anna University, Chennai Inaugurated this competitions were conducted for various events like 50m-breast stroke, free style, butterfly stroke, back stroke and 100m free style. Anna University Swimming Team and Chettinad Vidyashram won the Dr. KCG Verghese Memorial Rolling Trophy respectively. Mr. Adbulla Shamrid Al-Raisi, Deputy Director General Ministry of Higher Education, Sultanate of Oman was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes. Shri. K.K.Mukundan, the former National coach was honored during the Valedictory Function.

 

Under the auspices of Hindustan Sports Foundation, KCG Verghese Memorial State- under 17 Chess Championship was conducted at KCG College of Technology June 2006.
 
 

Dr. KCG Verghese Memorial Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament was conducted by KCG College of Technology on 23 March 200. Sathyabama Deemed University and ST.Josephs's College of Engineering emerged as winners and runners respectively.

Dr. KCG Verghese Memorial Intra-Collegiate International Football Tournament of HGI Was conducted at HCE from 23 January to 3 February 2007. The team 'Bhutan Wanderers' and 'Indian Lions' emerged as winners and runners respectively. Third place was take by the 'Rwanda Jumpers' & fourth by the 'Oman Booters'.

 
Dr. KCG Verghese Memorial Basketball Tournament for Engineering College was conducted by HCE from 2 to 5 February 2007. 14 men and 12 women teams took part. St. Joseph College and Jeppiar College emerged as winners and College of Engineering, Guindy and St. Josephs College emerged as runners in boys and girls categories respectively. Mr. Jobby Joseph, Former Indian Volley ball captain and Manager-IOB, Chennai was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes.
 

Globetrotters

 
 
The Globetrotters have played for world leaders, they have had movies made about them, called time-out in civil wars and had a network television cartoon series. The Harlem Globetrotters(USA) was brought to India by Sportzinda Management (P) Limited & SIM Basketball Promotions Pvt. Ltd., through the IBL Basketball Promotion Trust, in India. The Hindustan Sports Foundation was one of the main sponsor.

The Harlem Team performed in Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad, Bangalore & Putaparthi in November 2006. They visited HIET, HCE & HCAS & demonstrated their unique skills through the game & they inaugurated the new Basketball court in HCE.

 
'Athletes in Action' a sports camp was organized by "Campus Crusade Chennai" in association with HCE, Padur between 1st & 3rd December, 2006. Five American and five Indian coaches joined hands to train 100 state and university level players and 35 Physical Education Directors from all over Tamilnadu in football, volleyball, basketball, athletics, etc.
