Mr.Ashok Verghese, Joint Director and Dr. N.S. Venkataraman, Director - Projects and Academic Affairs, Visited Various institutions and Industries in Germany. Bosch at Feuerbach, Festo AG & Company Essligen, Daimler Chrysler AG at Sindelfing Liebher Ingolstadt, Schunk Technik Gmbh at Heuchelhein, Rittal GmbH& Co, KG at Herborn to name a few in Germany Under the CLL International Study Mission on "Managing Growth with Quality : Learning from the German Experience" from 9 to 13 October 2006. They also Visited the Mondial L'Automobile International Expo in Paris.

New Facilities

Sify Iway has opened 4 Internet Cafes in HCE & KCTech campus for the benefit of the student & staff. More than 50 computers have been installed exclusively for this purpose.

An outlet of Baskin Robins was opened in HCE. With summer around the corner, this facility will be a chilled blessing in the shape of cups & scoops.

NCC

The NCC Unit (TN Air Squadron, NCC, Tambaram) Conducted its Annual Training Camp from 27 June to 8 July 2006. Forty Cadets of HCFE attended and won I Prize in both Drill Competition and Line Area Layout. Ms. Vidhi Agarwal, IIEIE and Ms. Meenambiga, II Aero were selected for InterGroup Competition Vayu Senic Camp (IGC VSC) for SD/SW/JD/JW NCC which was held frokm 11 to 22 August 2006. The same girls were selected for the Launch Camp at Air force Station, Tambaram from 13 to 14 September 2006. Ms.Vidhi Agarwal was selected from the Launch Camp and sent to All India Vayu Senic Camp held at Bangalore from 4 to 10 October 2006. She stood 2nd in Ground Instruction and IV in Micro Lite Flying in All India Level.

NCC Cadets of Hindustan College of Engineering Prepared and handed over models depicting Mahabalipuram, the historical monument and Pongal Celebration, festival of harvest top the NCC unit of Tambaram, which are to be sent to NCC Museum to be opened in New Delhi shortly.

A squad of 20 NCC Cadets and Associate NCC officer (ANO), Flying Officer T.Krishnamoorthy of Hindustan College of Engineering represented the Tamilnadu Air Wing NCC Contingent in the March-Past of Republic Day Celebrations 2007 held Marina Beach, Chennai on 26th January 2007. It was a honour4 for our NCC team to be invited for this Program and march for the Nation as Tamilnadu Governor and Chief Minister look on.

NSS

In association with selfless Movement Improving Life Everywhere (SMILE), an Eye Screening Camp and Dental Check up was conducted on 26th September 2006 and 19 October 2006 respectively. Nearly 200 Students were Screened in these camps.

NSS unit of Hindustan College of Engineering and madras Costal Round table (MCRT 162) jointly celebrated Independence day at Anbagam, the Home for the Aged At Adyar Clothes, Bed sheets, Netlon Mosquito mats, carom boards etc. were distribute to 65 inmates.

To Celebrate NSS day on 24th September the NSS unit and MCRT 162 jointly organized a blood donation camp with the help of the children's hospital, Egmore. In this connection, along with Makkal Kalai Ilakkiya Kazhagam K.KNagar, and Art Exhibition on soft drink Illness was also organized.
